Ringing Totals - 2012

Post by YvonneB » 10 Jan 2013, 17:36

During 2012 we ringed 1,509 new birds of 41 species here in South Uist of which 271 birds were chicks/nestlings. We re-trapped/re-sighted 6,514 birds, the vast majority of which were our colour-ringed House Sparrows.

We would like to extend our thanks once again to Bill for collecting sparrow ring numbers and to the recorders in other parts of the islands who regularly send in their sightings for our sparrow project.

Details are still outstanding on the Norwegian ringed Starling that was captured during November 2012.

For a full list of the birds ringed see the attached PDF document
